A new website

Welcome to my new website!

Edudoctec is the short form of Education – Documentation – (Information) Technology and reflects the topics of this website.

I’m planning to write articles and news about:

  • Instructional Design and Training
  • Technical Writing and Documentation
  • Language and Translation
  • Information Technology
  • Project Management

Every IT project has to do with some aspect of Information Technology. For instance, a project can be started to implement a new software, technology, or process within a company. This may be a bigger or smaller change.

The project has to be managed while the new software is developed. Communication is an essential part of project management. Stakeholders and users have to be informed about the changes. This can be done by writing technical documents, like a software documentation and a user guide, which are delivered as part of the software. Instructional design is the process of creating the concept and the materials for a training (classroom or online). Language and communication play an important role not only in project management but also in technical writing as well as in instructional design and training.

One aspect that is not visible in the infographic is that Information Technology is related to technical writing and even more so instructional design—just think of all the tools for creating and publishing texts, and learning media like videos or interactive online courses. The same is true for language. There are computer-assisted translation tools (cat tools) and a lot of research is done in the field of artificial intelligence and language recognition.

About me

My name is Sonja Ringleb. I’m a freelancer in the Greater Boston area who offers services like instructional design and training, technical writing and documentation, translation, and project management.

I moved to the U.S. in 2019. I grew up in Dortmund, Germany, where I worked as technical trainer and instructional designer at a software company for 7 years. During this time, I was also involved in technical writing, translation, project management, and editorial activities. If you want to learn more about my career background, take a look at the about page. On that page you will also find a list of some of my favorite topics that I’m planning to write about in the future.

Who am I writing for?

This website is for everyone interested in the Edudoctec topics. I want to share my knowledge and experience, and connect with other instructional designers, technical trainers and writers, translators, project managers and IT professionals. The website is also for companies or startups that are looking for solutions in this area. It targets especially HR, IT, and training departments who want to know more about me, my career, and my projects.
