Instructional Design and Training
Instructional design is the process of designing and developing learning experiences using strategies and methods which are appropriate for the learner’s needs and for reaching the learning objectives. Based on adult learning principles and psychology, the learning experience will be adapted to meet the requirements so that the training course will be most effective. It’s important that the learning experience is motivating, well-structured, and interactive. If the training content is presented in the corporate design, it can increase the acceptance of the change (e.g. a new software product). The same is true if a software training is based on the customized software product that will later be used by the user.
Learning Experience Formats
The learning experience can have different formats—depending on your individual requirements. There are different types of learning scenarios:
- Instructor-led training (in-class or virtual),
- Online course
- Blended learning which is a combination of the first two scenarios
Instructor-led training can be on-site (Greater Boston area) or virtual with a videoconferencing tool.
Online courses can be composed of different elements: web-based training (WBT), learning videos/screencasts, software simulations, podcasts, quizzes, exercises, work aids, presentations, tutorials, infographics, and many more.
Software Training
- Do you want to introduce a new software in your company and train your employees how to use it?
- There are standard software training classes available, but they don’t help because you have a customized version of the software?
- Have you developed a software application and want to explain it to your customers?
- Do you want to train your service desk employees in how to use the IT service management application?
- Have you already finished a software project, but you have forgotten the training?
- Nobody can use the software (correctly) or doesn’t know all of its great features?
Process, Regulation, and Strategy Changes
- Do you introduce new or change existing IT service management processes in your company?
- Do you introduce new or change existing business processes or procedures?
- Are there new laws/regulations that have to be followed by your employees?
- Do you have a new strategy which you want to communicate to your employees?
- Do you want to make sure that your employees or customers are well trained, so that they can apply the changes in their daily work?
